| Walk-a-thon Around The Pond |
| This is a yearly event that always takes place on the last Saturday of August |
Somebody takes charge and forms a team. Your team maybe made up of family members, brothers &
sisters, a group of co-workers from a department store, a group of card players, golfers, club members, or
friends, etc. Your team may consist of two or as many as you want it to be. The goal is for each team to
raise a minimum of $100.00 and more.
You may raise the $100.00 amount by $5.00 increments. Simply use the Walk-a-thon Around the Pond
Candles for Sale Sheet below. Write down the name of the donor who donates $5.00 and next to his/her
name write down in the “FOR” section the name of the individual you will be walking for. Then X out if that
person is surviving or deceased.
The team will walk in honor of a cancer survivor or survivors they have collected whether it is a relative, a
loved one or a friend (either past or still living). For each $5.00 collected, a candle will be place in an
identified white paper bag honoring the individual and placed around Mizpah’s Pond. The candle will be lit-
up at dusk and will stay lit all night in memory of that individual while people casually walk around the pond.
What a marvelous site to see.
In addition; for each $5.00 the team collects and totals $100.00 they will have the honor of selecting one
individual from their sign-up sheet and we will have an engraved nameplate printed for that individual and
affixed to the Cancer Survivor Wall
If you live too far away or cannot do the walk-a-thon event you may still participate. Whether you are from
St. Francis, Me., Bristol, Conn., Miami, Florida, etc. you may join this walk-a-thon by simply filing out the form
along with your $100.00 donation to the address mentioned. Give us the name of the individual who has or
has had cancer and check the past & existing cancer survivor box. (Give us the R.I.P. date if you need to).
His/her name will be placed on the Cancer Survivor Wall. There are also sections on the wall for individuals
who are supporters of this project. Simply fill out the form with your name and check the supporter box.
Should you want to donate in memory of someone, simply enter the name or names and check the in
memory of box. Within a week of receiving your donation a nameplate will be engraved and attached to the
Cancer Survivor wall.
